For performance-focused cyclists, Aston Martin has partnered with J.Laverack to create what they present as the most innovative bicycle in the world. The .1R combines the best of automotive engineering with design and technology references for road models, to offer an unparalleled compromise between performance and comfort. But also raising the bar in terms of aesthetics and elegance.
The frame, hand-built, is an impeccable fusion of aerospace-grade titanium handlebars, 3D-printed, and carbon fiber tubes, with the same pattern as the Aston Martin Valkyrie, using manufacturing techniques more commonly seen in Formula 1 monocoques.
In terms of innovation, the .1R features the world’s first integrated brake calipers for a model with these characteristics. Each caliper is created from a single block of high-strength aluminum and features four titanium pistons for exceptional modulation and control.
“The J. Laverack Aston Martin .1R is essentially a titanium hypercar on two wheels, taking the design of a bespoke bicycle to an unprecedented level and rewriting the manuals of development and customization.”, commented Marek Reichman, Chief Creative Officer of Aston Martin.
The world’s first “screwless” bicycle
Among the special features, Aston Martin also highlights the unique design of the .1R, without visible screws or accessories.
Each element of this road model is custom-configured during a half-day session at Aston Martin’s headquarters to precisely determine the ideal lengths of the tubes, frame angles, handlebar width, and dimensions for each individual rider.
Then comes the customization phase with a wide range of Aston Martin paint schemes and leather finishing options, possibly matching the supercar in the garage.
Each unit of the J.Laverack Aston Martin .1R takes exactly 1,057 hours to be built, all units will be unique and numbered, but prices have not yet been revealed.
