During the recent wild season in MotoGP, six-time champion Marc Marquez made an unexpected announcement. He declared that he will not sign with Pramac, Ducati’s top satellite team. According to the Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport, Ducati has already made its decision on who will partner with Pecco Bagnaia in the factory team in 2025. It is reported that Jorge Martin is the favorite for the position, pending final contract details. Although both Martin and Marquez claim to be unaware of a final decision, Martin expressed optimism about the potential agreement. Marquez, on the other hand, made it clear that Pramac is not an option for him. This eliminates the possibility of a partnership between Pramac and Marquez, which would have been an ideal scenario for Ducati. Marquez’s priority for next year is to have a factory bike, as he aims to compete for the championship. He believes that having a factory team and the latest version of the bike are essential for his success. Although Marquez is comfortable with three different scenarios for 2025, he is not willing to switch from one satellite team to another. He wants the facilities and support that come with being part of a factory team. Marquez’s decision puts Ducati in a difficult position, as they may have to lose Pramac to retain him. Marquez has a deadline to make his decision, driven by his commitments to sponsors, and it is expected to be resolved before the Sachsenring round in July.
