Luke Browning, a young driver from Williams, secured his first pole position in Formula 3 at the Red Bull Ring. Browning managed to set the fastest lap time, defeating Lindblad and Tramnitz. Local Austrian driver Charlie Wurz, representing Jenzer Motorsport, was the fastest during Free Practice at the Red Bull Ring. Despite starting from the back of the grid, Browning managed to set a time and climb up to 14th place. The top five drivers were incredibly close, with Noel León leading the pack closely followed by Gabriele Mini. The time differences between the drivers were minimal, with the first 21 drivers within one second of the fastest time. After the first attempt, all drivers returned to the pits to change tires and seek the fastest time. With approximately eight minutes remaining, the cars returned to the track for the second and final attempt. Alexander Dunne significantly improved and jumped to fifth place. Browning reported raindrops on his radio, as did León. There were also concerns raised by the FIA regarding the safety of León and Van Hoepen’s releases. Browning, who was in the lead, slowed down the pack during the warm-up lap to avoid giving a tow to Mari Boya, a driver from Campos. In the end, Browning led the pack for the final attempt. Browning secured the provisional pole position ahead of Gabriele Mini and Tim Tramnitz, who briefly held second and third place. Despite not improving his second lap, Browning maintained his position at the top of the time sheet and secured pole position with a time of 1:20:222. This was a significant achievement for Browning, marking his first pole position in Formula 3. Prema’s Dino Beganovic was hindered by heavy traffic on the track and only managed to secure fifth place. Gabriele Mini finished fourth, followed by Oliver Goethe in sixth and Laurens van Hoepen in seventh. Sebastian Montoya qualified in eighth, with Dunne in ninth and Nikola Tsolov and Christian Mansell completing the top eleven. Martinius Stenshorne, in 12th place, was set to start from the inverted pole position in the Sprint Race.
