To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Tignanello, one of the most influential red wines from the Tuscany region in Italy, Maserati has created a customized Fuoriserie version of its latest creation, the GranCabrio Folgore.
This customized unit, created exclusively for Marchesi Antinori, a wine company with over 600 years of history passed down through 26 generations, and an eminent and distinctive symbol of Italy, will be auctioned on July 14th in California at the Arts for All Gala of the Festival Napa Valley – one of the leading art events dedicated to charity in the USA.
The exterior of this unique GranCabrio Folgore Tignanello model features a brown color inspired by the vineyard soil, warmed by a coppery shade of red wine, evoking the central red tones of the characteristic Tignanello barrels.
In addition, the rims and brake calipers are in matte black and glossy black, respectively, while the emblems are copper-colored, with the Maserati logo in shiny copper on an equally shiny background. The convertible top is also black.
In the interior, the seats feature leather upholstery decorated with a pattern of various materials, with silver and wine red ribs, designed in Vegea, an innovative expandable fabric derived from vineyards. The fabric conveys the visual and tactile sensation of leather, being used for the first time in a Maserati model.
Furthermore, it features dark briar wood finishes with laser engraving – chosen to evoke the impression of burnt oak barrels – adorning the panels, which display textual details about the creation of the Tignanello. On the headrests, an embroidery combines the Maserati Trident with one of Tignanello’s signature images: the sun, long a distinctive feature on the bottle label. The same symbol is laser engraved on the center tunnel, along with the dates 1971-2021, a reference to the first and current harvest of Tignanello, marking 50 years since this wine was launched on the market.
In terms of powertrain, this GranCabrio Folgore Tignanello is presented just like the original version, equipped with three electric motors, permanent magnet radial flux, one at the front and two at the rear, delivering a combined power of 829 hp and 1350 Nm of maximum torque.
The electric motors are powered by a 92.5 kWh battery, but only 83 kWh are used, which allows for a range of up to 450 km.
