Maximilian Günther has announced his departure from the Maserati MSG Racing FIA Formula E team, shortly after Stoffel Vandoorne’s exit from DS Penske was confirmed.
The German driver, who finished eighth in the Drivers’ standings, took to his social media account to share the news, expressing his gratitude to the Maserati team for their hard work and support over the past two years.
In his announcement, Günther also mentioned that he will soon reveal his future plans in Formula E.
Grazie mille @maseratimsg! – This past weekend marked my last race for the legendary trident 🔱 I want to thank the entire team for all their hard work, support, and friendship over the past two years. pic.twitter.com/SyiXWE4VQM
Günther, who joined Maserati from Nissan prior to Season 9, is expected to become Jean-Éric Vergne’s new teammate at DS Penske. The Franco-American team confirmed Stoffel Vandoorne’s departure, making room for Günther’s arrival.
During his time with Maserati, Günther achieved victories in Jakarta last year and in Tokyo this year. Notably, he won the inaugural race in Tokyo after an exciting battle with Oliver Rowland. In Season 10, Günther showcased impressive performances, including a ninth-place finish in São Paulo after starting from the back and serving a stop-and-go penalty.
