The European Commission approved on Tuesday the alliance between BMW, Ford, and Honda for the creation of ChargeScape, a company that aims to optimize the services of the electric vehicle charging network.
The project aims to create a platform where public service utilities, builders, and American electric vehicle drivers can share information about the electric charging network. The platform may also eventually be used in Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) applications, where vehicles provide energy to the electric grid.
The new platform will operate in the USA and Canada, and in this regard, Brussels concluded that the new company, equally owned by the three manufacturers, “does not raise concerns in terms of competition, given its limited impact on the European Economic Area.”
