The Portuguese Automobile Association (ACAP) revealed that in the month of July, 8378 new electric, plug-in, and electric hybrid passenger cars were registered in the national market, representing a growth of 6.9% compared to the same month of the previous year.
From January to July 2024, the registrations of these types of passenger cars totaled 60,141 units, which translates to a positive variation of 11.7% compared to the same period in 2023.
In terms of categories and vehicle types, 3317 new 100% electric passenger cars were registered in Portugal in July, representing a 23% increase compared to the same month of the previous year.
Overall, there was a 14% increase in the first seven months of 2024 compared to the same period last year, with 22,531 units of 100% electric passenger cars being registered.
As for light commercial vehicles, ACAP revealed that the market for electric, plug-in, and electric hybrid vehicles had a negative evolution of 32.7% in July compared to the same month in 2023, with 111 registered units. In cumulative terms, this market reached 1440 units, representing a growth of 9.1% compared to 2023.
In terms of 100% electric light commercial vehicles, there was also a 32.7% decrease in July compared to the same month of the previous year. However, in this segment, there is a growth of 8.9% from January to July 2024 compared to the same period last year.
Regarding the heavy vehicle market, which includes passenger and cargo types, in the seventh month of 2024, 10 new electrified heavy vehicles were registered, representing a decrease of 63%.
Overall, in the first seven months of 2024, there was a negative evolution of 62.1% compared to the same period of the year 2023, with 61 vehicles registered.
