The next generation of the Toyota Corolla, the 13th, is already being prepared by the Japanese automaker and is expected to hit the market in 2026/2027.
Everything indicates that the new Corolla will offer a hybrid version, and a plug-in hybrid option with a range of up to 2100 km, in order to compete with the Chinese competition that already offers plug-in hybrids with a range of up to 2000 km.
According to the Japanese publication “Best Car”, the new generation of the Corolla will have different body styles: compact, station wagon, and sedan. The publication states that the design will emphasize the “low height” of the new model, and that the brand’s engineers are working to improve aerodynamics in order to reduce fuel consumption.
In addition, “Best Car” reports that the Corolla will have a gasoline version in some markets, equipped with a 1.5-liter engine with 130 hp, which will be the entry-level version. The same engine will be used in the HEV hybrid variant, but generating 100 hp.
It is worth noting that the current generation of the Corolla has two hybrid versions, one with a 1.8-liter engine with 98 hp that combines with a 95 electric unit. The second, more powerful, uses a 2.0-liter engine with 152 hp and an electric motor with 113 hp.
