According to data from the Automobile Association of Portugal (ACAP), the numbers of new registrations confirm the fast pace at which the Portuguese are accelerating in electrification, with battery-powered models (BEV) already representing 18.2% of total sales of passenger cars. In total, between January and December 2023, 36,331 100% electric cars were sold in Portugal, with Tesla leading the list of new registrations.

BMW and Peugeot are the other two brands on the podium, the only ones to exceed three thousand units of BEV sold in 2023.
