The initial portion of the 2024 Formula 1 season has been a fiercely competitive affair for the different teams on the grid. With the current campaign on hold, a McLaren driver has confirmed suffering a broken rib injury due to the demanding schedule this year.
Oscar Piastri has been one of the most impressive drivers on the grid in only his second season for the Papayas this campaign. The 23-year-old achieved his first career victory in Budapest and has gathered 167 points in 14 races.
Piastri shared a series of images from the first half of the season, including an X-ray of his fractured rib. The X-ray image is from early July, suggesting that the Australian may have sustained the injury at Silverstone.

The talented driver will now aim to fully recover in time for the Dutch Grand Prix this month. The second half of the season is crucial for both Piastri and McLaren as they aspire to secure a championship victory for the first time since 2007.
McLaren CEO expressed that Piastri has been frustrated with his errors while chasing Red Bull’s in the championship. Verstappen currently leads the 2024 title race, with Norris trailing in second place by 78 points.
Despite being on an impressive streak this season, Lando Norris has not been consistently precise. The 24-year-old’s mistakes have had significant consequences and have also allowed Max Verstappen to secure multiple wins.
However, Zak Brown has shown support for Norris, believing that he will bounce back and perform more effectively in the second half of the season. The talented British driver will now reflect on his mistakes and hope for a better period after the summer break.
