The Baltimore Ravens have managed to keep their roster intact despite facing two significant injury scares to their defensive backs, Kyle Hamilton and Nate Wiggins. Hamilton had to leave practice early last Sunday due to a left leg injury and sat out Monday’s practice. However, he made a return to the field on Tuesday. Ravens coach John Harbaugh reassured everyone that Hamilton’s leg is “stable” and there are no major concerns. On the other hand, Wiggins suffered a sprained right shoulder during practice.
During the team’s practice session, Hamilton was able to fully participate in the 11-on-11 drills. According to Jeff Zrebiec’s report on X, formerly known as Twitter, Hamilton not only practiced but also made an impressive pass breakup during a play involving Jackson and Flowers. DC Zach Orr even commented that Hamilton might be the only safety in the league capable of making such a play.
Hamilton’s injury occurred after tight end Isaiah Likely caught a long touchdown pass from quarterback Lamar Jackson. While attempting to defend the pass, Hamilton fell to the ground and had to be attended to by a team trainer. However, he managed to walk off the field on his own and was later determined to have a stable leg. Harbaugh mentioned that further tests will be conducted to ensure Hamilton’s well-being, but initial indications suggest that he is fine.
This is great news for Hamilton, who had a remarkable sophomore year in the NFL after a strong rookie season. He earned his first Pro Bowl selection last year due to his defensive versatility and impact. The Ravens will rely on him heavily in the upcoming season as they aim to bounce back from their loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship game.
On the other hand, Nate Wiggins suffered a shoulder injury during the Ravens’ preseason loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. He had a productive start to the game, breaking up three passes and securing his first NFL interception. However, after making a tackle on third down, he had to leave the field for medical attention.
An MRI revealed that Wiggins has a shoulder sprain, and he is currently considered day-to-day. Harbaugh reassured fans that it is not a serious injury and compared it to his own experience with a similar injury during a water slide incident. He even demonstrated his arm movement to emphasize that it is not a cause for major concern.
Injuries are an unfortunate reality in full-contact sports like the NFL, and no team wants to see their players get hurt. Thankfully, both Kyle Hamilton and Nate Wiggins managed to avoid major injuries before the start of the new season.
