The New York Jets have absolutely no plans to trade Haason Reddick. Robert Saleh and the rest of the front office have made their stance clear in their official statement following the trade request. However, the pass rusher has responded by staging an extensive holdout since being traded from the Philadelphia Eagles to training camp. Despite all of this, Aaron Rodgers is not particularly surprised by the drama.
Aaron Rodgers has been a part of the league for two decades. He has witnessed nearly everything, from the emergence of multiple dynasties to peculiar contract situations. That’s why the entire Haason Reddick situation seems like a routine occurrence for the seasoned veteran during the offseason, according to SNY.
“In the league, there are always new developments. I’ve been around for 20 years, and I’ve seen a lot of things. As players, we naturally tend to support our fellow players. We understand what it’s like to be in their shoes. I don’t know him well. I exchanged a few messages with him, I think, when he was traded,” Rodgers commented on hearing the news.
Reddick was recently traded to the Jets in early April. Since then, he has not attended any of their practices, and Robert Saleh has been unable to reach him during this period. Despite the turmoil within the Jets organization, the quarterback still hopes to see the experienced pass rusher on their team when the regular season begins.
“Obviously, we’d love to have him here, but we don’t judge him for doing what he believes is best for himself. I believe what’s best for him is to be a Jet because it’s going to be an exciting journey. However, he must make the decision that is best for him and his family,” he stated.
Even Coach Robert Saleh remains open to welcoming Reddick, despite his reluctance to join the Jets.
“It’s not frustrating because it’s beyond my control. We’re enthusiastic about our group. We still look forward to his arrival when he’s ready. When he’s ready, we will warmly embrace him and make the most of the opportunities he brings,” the head coach declared.
