The Automobile Association of Portugal (ACAP) revealed that car registrations in Portugal increased by 7.9% in January compared to the same period last year, with 18,826 new vehicles registered by the legal representatives of brands operating in the national market.

By categories, in the first month of 2024, 15,737 new passenger cars were registered, which is 7.5% more than in the same month of the previous year. Compared to January 2019, the market experienced a slight decrease of 0.3%.
As for the light commercial vehicle market, it recorded a positive growth of 8.1% in January compared to the same month of the year 2023, with 2,363 registered units. When compared to the same month in 2019, there was a decrease of 19.4%.
Regarding the heavy vehicle market, which includes both passenger and commercial types, there was a 15.2% increase in January compared to the same month of 2022, with 726 vehicles of this category sold. Compared to the same month in 2019, the market experienced a 26.3% increase.
