In a surprising shakeup, the Atlanta Braves have fired three members of their coaching staff who were under contract through 2025. The news, first reported by David O’Brien of The Athletic, indicates that the Braves are making significant changes to their roster of coaches. Among those dismissed are hitting coach Kevin Seitzer, assistant hitting coach Bobby Magallanes, and catching coach Sal Fasano.
The Braves plan to fill the two hitting coach positions but have no intention of replacing Fasano, who had occupied a role specifically created for him. This indicates a shift in their approach to player development, particularly in the catching department.
General manager Alex Anthopoulos had initially stated that he expected the entire coaching staff to return for the next season. However, according to O’Brien, this statement was made before the club had fully begun its evaluation process. Now, it appears that a deeper assessment has led to these dismissals as the Braves seek a new direction for their coaching team heading into the 2025 season.
