Lakers Eyeing Hawks’ Dejounte Murray Ahead of Trade Deadline
The Los Angeles Lakers are on the hunt for new talent as the trade deadline approaches. One player on their radar is Atlanta Hawks point guard Dejounte Murray. The Lakers, however, face a major obstacle – they lack valuable trade assets. Most of their young and role players have had limited playing time and have failed to make a significant impact this season.
D’Angelo Russell, on the other hand, has been outstanding in recent weeks. His performance has either increased his trade value or made a strong case for him to remain in Southern California. Meanwhile, another point guard, Gabe Vincent, has become dispensable for the Lakers.
According to a report by Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports, the Lakers are actively trying to part ways with Vincent, who they acquired from the Miami Heat during the offseason. Vincent played a crucial role in the Heat’s journey to the NBA Finals last year. However, this season, he has struggled to see much action on the court. In just five games, he has averaged around 5 points and 3 assists.
It is worth noting that former Heat role players tend to experience a decline in production once they leave Erik Spoelstra’s system. Additionally, Vincent has been battling a knee injury for most of the season. Considering these factors, it would be challenging for any team to see value in acquiring him without the inclusion of draft picks, unless a surprising turn of events occurs.
