Ampere is the new “start-up” created within the Renault Group’s Renaulution strategic plan, which officially started in early November with the aim of becoming the first European operator of pure electric vehicles and software.
Ampere’s mission is to democratize electric vehicles in Europe, making them accessible to everyone. To achieve this, the new company will rely on 15 years of experience in electric vehicles to design 100% electric vehicles equipped with cutting-edge software technology for the European market.
Ampere will operate in 11 facilities in France, including four industrial facilities: ElectriCity, which includes the factories of Douai, Maubeuge, and Ruitz; and the Cléon factory, employing over 11,000 people – 35% of whom are engineers – who design, develop, manufacture, and market high-performance vehicles under the Renault brand.
“Creating a new model of a company specialized in electric vehicles and software starting today: How better to illustrate our revolution and the audacity of our teams? Promoting a sustainable business vision and ensuring that it is reflected in all processes and products. Developing the strengths of the Group and reviewing how we do everything. Forming a united team and working for the collective. Leveraging our roots and becoming leaders in Europe. Affirming our commitment to our customers, our planet, and those who live in it. Ampere’s strategy reflects the ambitions of the Group, and I am extremely proud to launch this important step forward”, said Luca de Meo, CEO of Ampere and the Renault Group.
It should be noted that Renault has already announced that it will exclusively market 100% electric models in Europe from 2030, with the goal of selling one million electric vehicles in 2031.
To achieve this goal, an important role will be played by the reduction of costs per electric vehicle by 40% or more by 2027, and it is in this sense that Ampere will carry out its work in order to offer attractive products at the best price.
