LAKERS HEAD COACH UNDER FIRE FOR CONTROVERSIAL DECISION
The Los Angeles Lakers’ 2023-24 NBA season has been far from perfect. With many flaws to address, the team is hoping for a comeback in the remaining games. However, fans and analysts are pointing fingers at head coach Darvin Ham for his questionable strategies.
One particular decision that has drawn criticism is Ham’s consistent choice to start Taurean Prince in all 47 games he has played this season. Fans have expressed concern over Ham’s favoritism towards Prince, and NBA analyst Jason Timpf didn’t hold back in his evaluation of the coach.
“It is legitimately one of the worst consistent coaching decisions I’ve seen made in a very long time,” Timpf stated on The Volume’s Twitter account. Timpf pointed out that Prince has started more games this season than in his previous three seasons combined. Despite this, Prince’s performance on the court has been underwhelming, with averages of 9.6 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game.
Timpf’s scathing evaluation of Ham’s coaching decisions is not surprising. It’s unfair to blame Prince for his lackluster numbers, as he hasn’t had much experience as a starter in recent years. The Lakers will need to address these issues and make necessary changes if they hope to turn their season around.
