John Daly, known as much for his bold personality as his golf prowess, is putting his heart into helping others in the wake of Hurricane Helene, which devastated his family home in Clearwater, Florida, and affected countless others. The two-time major winner, currently playing on the PGA Tour Champions circuit, shared his anguish over the destruction caused by the hurricane, telling the PGA Tour, “My heart just goes out to everybody.”
Now, Daly is channeling his heartbreak into action. He’ll be back in his home state of Arkansas on October 28-29 for the Daly & Duke Driver For Charity event, partnering with fellow PGA Tour Champions golfer Ken Duke to raise funds for the Heart of a Lion Foundation, which supports first responders and veterans. Duke, a longtime charity supporter, will also contribute by raising funds for organizations supporting young children and scientific research.
The charity event at Maumelle Country Club will feature only 24 teams, making it an exclusive opportunity for fans to connect with Daly while supporting a meaningful cause. The weekend kicks off on October 28 with live music, delicious food, and an auction from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., followed by a four-person scramble among the 24 teams on October 29. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., with tee-off at 10 a.m. An entry fee of $3,000 per team includes dinner, awards, and the chance to make a difference for communities in need.
Despite receiving criticism for his lifestyle, Daly’s response to Hurricane Helene and his commitment to supporting others showcase a side of him that extends well beyond the greens. Through this event, Daly hopes to bring people together, uplift those affected by the storm, and reinforce his dedication to giving back.
