In recent weeks, rumors about a possible “backtracking” on the Audi Formula 1 project – in partnership with Sauber, debuting in 2026 – have been circulating. From the end of the program before hitting the tracks to its handover to Porsche, and the split of Sauber to sign with Toyota, a lot of ink has been spilled.
Jürgen Rittersberger, Chief Financial Officer and member of the Audi board, clarified now quoted by Kolkner Express that all these rumors are unfounded: ‘We had a clear decision-making situation in the management and supervisory board’.
The appointment of Gernot Dollner as CEO has given rise to speculation – since he is not particularly enthusiastic about F1. However, Rittersberger insisted: ‘We are sticking to our plans to enter in 2026. There is no other decision’.
