Sergio Pérez has a contract with Red Bull until the end of next year and this is to be fulfilled. At least that’s the guarantee given by the team, despite the results and performances falling short of expectations – which are starting to jeopardize an unprecedented one-two in the Formula 1 World Championship.
After retiring in the Mexico City GP, Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko praised the performance of #11 until the incident in the first corner: ‘Until then, Checo did everything right this weekend. He only had one chance at the start. We don’t blame him at all’.
Quoted by grandprix.com, the demanding Austrian emphasized that Pérez is “firmly established” at Red Bull: ‘He was strong throughout the weekend and losing two tenths to Max [Verstappen] in qualifying is a great achievement’.
