Honda took advantage of its presence at the Tokyo Motor Show (Japan Mobility show 2023) to present its vision of electric mobility, but the big surprise was the Prelude concept, which hints at the return of a coupe that is part of the history of the Japanese brand.
Between 1978 and 2001 and over five generations, the Prelude was a reference for Honda, and everything indicates that the Japanese brand will bring back the sports car in the era of electrification.
“Honda has always been committed to creating sports vehicles. And the word ‘prelude’ means ‘that which introduces or comes before.’ This model will be the prelude to our future models, models that will inherit the ‘joy of driving,’ but in a completely electrified future and will incorporate Honda’s unwavering sports mentality. The Prelude Prototype is a specialized sports model that offers an exciting experience and makes people want to continue forever with it and provides an extraordinary emotion like never before,” emphasized Toshihiro Mibe, Director, President, and Representative of Honda Moto.
The head of the Japanese brand did not reveal more details about the return of the Prelude, but if its launch is confirmed in the future, the Prelude will certainly be equipped with a 100% electric engine, maintaining the excitement of its driving.
“To offer the ‘joy of driving’ that only Honda can provide, we are diligently advancing in the development of this type of vehicle, and therefore, it is justified to maintain high expectations for this model,” concluded Toshihiro Mibe.
