Charles Leclerc was disqualified from the United States Grand Prix of Formula 1 due to a technical irregularity in his car. Prior to that, he missed the chance to fight for the podium with a wrong choice of a single tire change.
Even before the disqualification, the Ferrari driver admitted that there was a mistake in the strategy that did not maximize the race pace: ‘It is fair to say that we did not go with the right strategy. In theory, our numbers showed that the one-stop and two-stop strategies were very similar; but in reality, it was not the case. I felt good in the car all weekend and our race pace was not bad’.
Leaving Austin, Leclerc is already looking to the future: ‘We have to use the rest of this season to learn as much as possible and ensure that we extract the maximum from all opportunities in the future’.
