Lando Norris was one of the standout performers in the United States Grand Prix. Despite very moderate expectations upon arrival in Austin, the McLaren driver led yesterday’s race in the early laps, in a controlled manner, and finished in third position.
The #4 driver was pleased with the outcome, although he was unable to maintain the lead in the early stages: ‘It was great to lead the race at the beginning. I was able to control the race a lot, but it wasn’t enough. However, I’m happy, it was a good race on my part. We knew it was going to be difficult, with the degradation, but the pace throughout the first ten laps of each stint was strong’.
After achieving a result beyond expectations, Norris emphasized the progress that is happening: ‘We’re getting there. We’re making progress every weekend, we just need a few more steps. Finishing on the podium here was better than we expected before the weekend. So overall, I’m very happy’.
