Vem Miller, a Las Vegas-based Trump supporter and self-proclaimed journalist, has filed a defamation lawsuit against Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco. Miller claims that Bianco falsely accused him of attempting to assassinate former President Donald Trump during a rally, painting Miller as a dangerous “sovereign citizen” to portray himself as a hero. According to court documents, Miller contends that the sheriff’s statements were aimed at boosting Bianco’s public image at Miller’s expense.
Miller was arrested outside a Trump rally in California after deputies found firearms, a high-capacity magazine, and identification documents under different names in his vehicle. Sheriff Bianco claimed in a press conference that Miller’s presence at the rally, along with his alleged fake license plates and multiple IDs, signaled a potential assassination plot, marking it as a “third assassination attempt” on Trump. Miller’s lawsuit, however, insists that his weapons possession was lawful and that he posed no threat. Moreover, his legal team asserts that both the FBI and the U.S. Secret Service cleared Miller of any credible threat to Trump.
According to Miller, the accusations have not only hurt his reputation but have also led to intense public scrutiny and harassment. The lawsuit seeks damages for the alleged harm caused to his character, arguing that Bianco’s narrative was baseless and misleading. Sheriff Bianco, in response to the lawsuit, dismissed Miller’s claims and defended the actions taken by his department, stating that the arrest was warranted based on Miller’s suspicious behavior and possession of unregistered firearms
