Northrop Grumman just gave us a sneak peek of its latest loitering munition, the Jackal— and it’s a turbojet-powered beast. This missile is designed for precision strikes with modular payloads, meaning it can be both lethal and non-lethal, depending on the mission. First showcased in 2022, the Jackal is here to fill the gap between existing loitering munitions like the Switchblade 300 and 600, but with a major upgrade: over 600 km/h speeds, a range of 100 kilometers, and an impressive loiter time of 15 minutes.
As Northrop Grumman says in their latest video, “Jackal is a next-gen precision strike missile that delivers standoff capability in contested environments.” It’s built to be highly adaptable, whether it’s taking out threats or gathering intelligence for hours before launching its attack. The advanced avionics, high-speed flight, and modular design make this missile a game changer in modern warfare, leaving traditional systems in the dust.
