Tensions between Iran and the U.S. escalated after Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi issued a stern warning to the U.S., stating that it would bear responsibility for any Israeli attack on Iran if it provides support. Araghchi’s remarks followed President Joe Biden’s acknowledgment of having knowledge of Israel’s potential retaliatory strike against Iran, after a missile attack by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards earlier this month in response to the assassinations of key figures from Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Iranian military.
Araghchi emphasized on social media that anyone involved in facilitating an Israeli attack would be held accountable for its consequences in Iran. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, in response to Iran’s missile strike, warned that Iran had made a grave error and would face repercussions.
As the conflict intensifies, Biden confirmed his awareness of Israel’s possible retaliation but refrained from offering further specifics during a press briefing in Germany. The situation raises further concerns of escalating military actions in the region.
