Mercedes-Benz has unveiled a new chapter in its collaboration with Monclar, debuting the limited edition G-Class Past II Future at the “The City of Genius” fashion show in Shanghai, China.
This exclusive model, designed by fashion icon NIGO, is an evolution of a 1990s G-Class brought into contemporary times, merging classic design with modern luxury. NIGO’s creative vision for the G-Class is showcased through the “Project G-Class Past II Future,” a unique piece of art that inspired a new limited series.
The revamped G-Class features a sleek exterior in two tones of olive green and gray with black and gold accents, along with unique design elements such as a foldable windshield and a spare tire mounted on the rear.
Inside, the cabin pays homage to the past with the checkered pattern of the seat upholstery. The details in orange and gold draw parallels with the collaborative fashion collection from Mercedes-Benz, Moncler, and NIGO.
Additionally, G-Class enthusiast Devon Turnbull – known for his immersive audio installations – designed a sound system that perfectly fits the vehicle’s concept, both technically and visually.
Mercedes-Benz has announced that it will produce only 20 units of the G-Class Past II Future, making the model a rare addition to the 45-year legacy of the G-Class.
Both the limited edition G-Class and the capsule fashion collection are the first products from the collaboration available for purchase. As a highlight of the 45th anniversary of the G-Class, the new edition showcases how this brand icon remains timeless and competently adapts to contemporary lifestyles.
