Ford has announced that the first units of the new Capri will soon arrive in the European market. The new 100% electric SUV coupe has been developed to inject a certain dose of excitement into the world of electric vehicles, reimagining a cult classic.
Since the model was unveiled by Ford in July, approximately 200,000 consumers have customized their Capri through Ford’s configurator, and the brand has now revealed that of those customers, 24% chose the exterior color Vivid Yellow – a tribute to the Daytona Yellow of the classic Capri – making it the most popular of the six color options.
All Capri customers benefit from luxury features such as keyless access and start, a massage driver’s seat, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel. Nevertheless, 55% opted for the Capri Premium version, which includes Dynamic Matrix LED headlights, a B&O sound system with 10 speakers, 20-inch alloy wheels, among others.
The rear-wheel drive system with 286 hp is the preferred option to date, chosen by 59% of customers. The 77 kWh battery allows for a claimed range of up to 627 km.
Equipped with a lot of technology, the new Capri features advanced driving assistance systems that utilize 12 ultrasonic sensors, five cameras, and three radars. The interior also includes a 14.6’’ central display for the Ford SYNC Move infotainment system, compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
In addition, there is a 17-liter MegaConsole under the front armrest that can hold three 1.5-liter bottles and a trunk with a capacity of 572 liters, which can expand to 1510 liters with the second-row seats folded down.
“The new 100% electric Capri is the model that the iconic sports coupe was destined to become. Its return was worth the wait, and we couldn’t be more excited to see a new generation about to experience the style and elegance that made the Capri a legend,” said Jon Williams, General Director of Ford Blue and Model, Europe.
