Dodgers superfan and PGA Tour star Max Homa is living out a “dream scenario” as his beloved Los Angeles Dodgers gear up for a historic World Series matchup with the New York Yankees. The six-time PGA Tour winner, currently playing in Japan’s ZOZO Championship, is juggling his passion for golf with his unwavering support for the Dodgers.
Homa, who threw the ceremonial first pitch at Dodger Stadium in 2019, admitted it’s tough keeping up with the games due to the time difference. “We play in the mornings, and the World Series starts at 9 a.m. here in Tokyo,” Homa explained. Despite the challenge, he’s determined to follow every moment, streaming games on his phone between rounds.
The Dodgers, led by Japanese superstar Shohei Ohtani, are set to face the Yankees in their first World Series matchup since 1981. Homa, thrilled to be in Ohtani’s native country, is especially excited about the international spotlight on his team. “It’s quite neat to be in Japan when the best baseball player in the world is Japanese, and he’s on the team I root for,” Homa said, calling it a “dream scenario.”
Despite missing out on being at the stadium in person, Homa is savoring every moment of the Dodgers’ incredible postseason run from afar, declaring it’s been “very fun to watch.”
