In a fiery declaration, Donald Trump vowed to fire Special Counsel Jack Smith “within two seconds” if he wins the 2024 election. During a bombshell interview with conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt, Trump unleashed his frustrations on Smith, calling him a “crooked person” and promising to make his removal a top priority upon taking office.
Smith, appointed by Attorney General Merrick Garland in 2022, has been at the center of Trump’s legal troubles, investigating his efforts to overturn the 2020 election and his handling of classified documents. Trump, who has consistently lashed out at Smith, didn’t hold back this time, declaring that the special counsel’s days would be numbered under a second Trump presidency.
“It’s so easy. I would fire him within two seconds,” Trump boldly stated, emphasizing his intent to swiftly remove the man responsible for two major federal cases against him.
When asked if such a move could lead to impeachment, Trump shrugged it off. “I don’t think they’ll impeach me if I fire Jack Smith,” he said, doubling down on his confidence.
Trump also took the opportunity to praise U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon, who dismissed one of Smith’s cases involving classified documents. “We had a brave, brilliant judge in Florida,” he said.
As Trump’s legal battles heat up and the 2024 race intensifies, his promise to fire Smith is a bold challenge to the justice system, ensuring the campaign will be anything but quiet.
