Graeme Robertson, the star of this year’s Tartan Pro Tour, is gearing up for his PGA Tour debut after a remarkable win at the rain-soaked Gosling’s Invitational in Bermuda. The Scottish golfer, already crowned the Tartan Pro Tour Order of Merit winner, showcased his grit and talent by taking the win in an event shortened to 36 holes due to extreme weather.
Robertson, 36, walked away with a prize of $11,000 and, more importantly, a coveted spot in the Butterfield Bermuda Championship, set for next month. Reflecting on his victory, Robertson expressed his excitement on social media, calling the moment “unbelievable” as he relished the victory over local talent Nick Jones with an impressive opening round of six-under-par 64.
Speaking to Bermuda’s Royal Gazette, he said, “It feels amazing to win the Gosling’s Invitational.” The Scottish pro found an unexpected advantage in Bermuda’s notoriously windy conditions, a climate that brought back memories of his training back home. “It seems I brought Scotland weather to Bermuda,” he added, noting how the challenging winds seemed to suit his style and preparation.
Robertson’s journey to this milestone has been filled with hard work and unexpected triumphs. After turning pro at 33 following a break from golf, Robertson quickly made a name for himself, earning not only this year’s Tartan Pro Tour accolades but also wins at both the Northern Open and the Loch Lomond Whiskies Scottish PGA Championship, where he defended his title on the PGA in Scotland circuit.
But his sights are set even higher. Alongside other Scots, he will soon be competing in Spain for the DP World Tour Qualifying School, hoping to secure a Challenge Tour card and possibly even a DP World Tour ticket.
Looking ahead, Robertson is thrilled to return to Bermuda for the PGA Tour event, set to take place from November 14-17 at Port Royal Golf Course. “The PGA Tour was a big incentive to why I came here,” he said, eager to test his skills on one of golf’s biggest stages.
Robertson’s achievement is a testament to resilience and ambition, a story that may just be the beginning of an impressive chapter in his professional golf career. Will this momentum carry him to more PGA wins? With his eyes now set on the world stage, Robertson is ready to find out.
