In a surprising turn of events, the Mercedes C-Class sedan has undergone a major transformation thanks to the AMG subsidiary. With the current W206 generation, even the powerful C 63 now boasts a turbocharged inline-four engine and electric aids. However, during the W205 era, things were quite different. The C 43 variants featured a twin-turbo V6 engine, while the C 63 was equipped with a twin-turbo V8, making it a force to be reckoned with.
One avid car enthusiast and videographer, known for their love of drag racing, took their Mercedes-AMG to the Mission Raceway Park in British Columbia, Canada. This NHRA-sanctioned quarter-mile dragstrip, also known as ‘Thunder by the River,’ provided the perfect backdrop for some intense racing action. The AMG, possibly a C 63 S, faced off against a black Nissan GT-R in the first race.
Unfortunately for Mercedes fans, the GT-R proved to be a fierce competitor. Despite a decent start by the AMG, the Nissan GT-R quickly gained momentum and overtook its rival, securing a victory with an impressive 10-second result. The GT-R’s trap speed of 154 mph (248 kph) far surpassed the AMG’s 129 mph (207 kph). However, the colorful AMG wasn’t ready to give up just yet.
Equipped with a trunk spoiler, the AMG faced off against a Mercedes-AMG GT in its next race. This time, the setup worked in its favor, and the AMG emerged victorious with a time of 11.25 seconds, leaving the Mercedes-AMG GT behind with a time of 12.16 seconds. The AMG’s performance was truly remarkable.
As the races continued, two more German sedans took to the track. However, the most intriguing battle occurred when an Audi RS3 dared to challenge a white Nissan GT-R. Initially, the RS3 seemed to have the upper hand, leaving the GT-R far behind. But to everyone’s surprise, the GT-R made a remarkable comeback, closing the distance and ultimately winning the race. It was a shocking turn of events, and upon further analysis, it became clear that the GT-R’s victory was due to its reaction time.
Overall, the drag races at Mission Raceway Park provided thrilling moments for both car enthusiasts and fans of intense competition. The AMG’s performance, although not always victorious, showcased its impressive capabilities and left a lasting impression on those who witnessed the races.
