After revealing the new generation of the Grandland, Opel reminds us that the SUV is a great ally for “Halloween Night,” which is celebrated on October 31, all because the Grandland is equipped with the new Intelli-Lux HD headlights.
The new lighting signature, the latest generation of the glare-free Intelli-Lux LED technology, has been available for order for a few days and creates light where there was once only darkness.
But this is not the only lighting innovation introduced by Opel with the arrival of the new Grandland. It is also the first Opel to feature the 3D Vizor, the illuminated Opel Blitz, and “Edge Light” technology. This makes the new Grandland a model that attracts attention just with its innovative lighting technologies.
Opel has already accustomed us to the adaptive and glare-free Intelli-Lux LED technology in bestsellers like the current Astra, Corsa, Grandland, and Combo. However, along with the new Opel Grandland, the Intelli-Lux HD light utilizes headlights that have more than 50,000 elements (exactly 51,200, or 25,600 per side) and allow for high-resolution light distribution without reflections.
This system transforms night into day for the driver and illuminates the route and surroundings with precision. Depending on traffic conditions, the camera detects users on the road ahead and oncoming traffic, and the Intelli-Lux HD light “cuts” them out even more quickly and accurately than previous matrix light technologies. The “light tunnel,” or the area left out by the beam of light, is narrower than before, while the rest of the street and surrounding area are better illuminated.
In this way, Opel ensures that the system provides an even brighter and more uniform light distribution without dazzling other drivers. Moreover, the high-resolution light technology not only protects the eyes of other road users but also those of the Grandland driver. The system recognizes traffic signs that appear on the road and reduces the intensity of the LEDs so that the reflection from the signs does not dazzle the driver. Additionally, the “tourist mode” ensures that the Intelli-Lux HD headlight can utilize all its performance and functions even when driving in countries with left-hand traffic.
The new animations in the form of graphic videos projected in front of the vehicle to greet and bid farewell to the occupants of the Grandland provide a first impression of the lighting developments that will be possible in future models from the German brand.
