The Islamic Resistance group in Iraq launched four drone attacks targeting strategic sites within Israeli-controlled areas on Friday, according to multiple reports. The strikes reportedly targeted “vital locations,” with three focused on southern areas of Israel and another in the Golan Heights region. These coordinated attacks are part of the group’s stated response to Israel’s military actions in Gaza, where civilian and infrastructural damage has escalated over the past weeks.
Qatar-based Al Jazeera reported that the Iraqi Resistance has escalated its strikes in recent days, also targeting American military positions in Iraq and Syria. These attacks follow statements from the group condemning U.S. support for what it describes as “genocide” in Gaza, where extensive bombing campaigns have led to significant casualties and damage to hospitals, residential buildings, and places of worship.
The recent violence underscores the heightened regional tensions following the October 7 attack on Israel by Palestinian factions, an assault the groups named Operation Al-Aqsa Storm. Since then, Gaza has faced a large-scale Israeli military response, which has intensified amid increasing international calls for ceasefire and humanitarian assistance.
