Alpine has unveiled two different liveries for the 2024 season, one of which is a pink BWT design that will be used for the first three rounds of the season.
The Enstone-based team, Alpine, has revealed their new car for the upcoming Formula 1 season. The team showcased the Alpine 524 during their launch event, alongside their Hypercar for the World Endurance Championship. However, it seems that the design of the team’s 2024 challenger has divided opinions.
In the past two seasons, Alpine has been known for their blue and pink liveries, thanks to their title sponsor, BWT. This year, the team has continued with the same color combination, but on a different scale. The base of the new A524 is made of exposed carbon fiber, which helps the team save weight. There are hints of blue on the nose and in front of the driver’s cockpit. Additionally, Alpine has introduced a new two-tone design for their shades, which can be seen on the car, including the engine cover. The side-pods feature BWT branding and their traditional pink color.
For the first three rounds of the 2024 season, the French team has unveiled a special pink livery. In this design, BWT’s pink shade replaces the blue patches on the car, with virtually no other differences.
Fans on social media were not pleased with Alpine’s latest livery. Some expressed their disappointment, calling the design underwhelming and suggesting that the team should add paint to it. One fan even rated the livery as 0 out of 10, stating that it barely qualifies as an F1 livery.
Alpine’s attempt at a new livery was met with criticism, with fans expressing their disappointment and joking about budget cuts in the paint department. It is clear that the design has not won over fans, as the A524’s polarizing livery features large areas of exposed carbon fiber. However, it seems that F1 teams are increasingly comfortable leaving portions of their cars unpainted to save weight. Only time will tell if the livery will grow on fans in the coming weeks.
