Piper Aircraft, one of the oldest makers of general aviation planes, has announced a new addition to its lineup. The M700 Fury is the first representative of a new generation of M-class Piper planes. This six-passenger plane is powered by engines supplied by Pratt & Whitney Canada. The PT6A-52 powerplant, used for the first time in a single-engine turboprop, develops 700 shaft horsepower. With a maximum take-off weight of 6,000 pounds, the M700 Fury can take off in as little as 1,994 feet and climb at a rate of 2,000 feet per minute. It has a maximum speed of 301 knots, making it the fastest plane in the Piper lineup. The price of the M700 Fury is expected to be $1 million less than its closest competitor. In addition to its performance, the M700 Fury has a sleek design reminiscent of World War II fighter aircraft.
