He topped the IMSA GTP time sheets with a lap time of 1:48.279s in the #01 V-Series.R. The #6 Porsche Penske 963, driven by Nick Tandy, was the fastest non-Cadillac, securing the third fastest time of 1:48.941. The top five overall/GTP positions were completed by Brendon Hartley (+0.796) and Louis Deletraz (+0.940) in the #10 and #40 Acura ARX-06 WTR-Andretti cars, respectively. The first practice session took place at Sebring International Raceway in Florida, starting at 10:05 local time (14:05 GMT). The session had a brief interruption when Gianmaria ‘Gimmi’ Bruni in the Proton Porsche 963 stopped just two minutes into the session. However, the car was quickly removed and the green flag was waved again after five minutes. Four cars, including the Porsche #5, failed to register a time in the session. Iron Lynx team faced some challenges with their Lamborghini SC63, making its IMSA debut in the GTP category. It took them half an hour to register a time and they ended up in 10th place overall, 2.683 seconds behind the fastest lap time. The top nine cars were separated by only 1.396 seconds. In the LMP2 category, TDS Racing led the standings with Mikkel Jensen setting a lap time of 1:51.342 in the Oreca 07 #11. The United Autosports Oreca #22 came in second, with Paul di Resta posting the second fastest time, just 0.021 seconds behind the TDS Racing car. The United #2 car finished third in LMP2, 0.216 seconds behind the #11 car, thanks to Ben Hanley’s effort. In the GTD Pro category, Jack Hawksworth led the way in the Vasser Sullivan Lexus RC F GT3 #14, setting a time of 2:00.202. Daniel Serra in the Risi Competizione Ferrari #62 came in second in GTD Pro and second overall among GT competitors, just 0.094 seconds behind Hawksworth.
