Max Günther, the winner of the Tokyo E-Prix, expressed his confidence and excitement as he prepares for the next round of the FIA Formula E World Championship in Misano. Günther, representing Maserati MSG Racing, triumphed over Nissan’s Oliver Rowland on the streets of Tokyo, securing his first win of the season in Formula E and closing in on the top contenders in the Drivers’ Championship. Reflecting on his performance, Günther stated: “The start of the season has been positive and Tokyo was an exceptional weekend. Since São Paulo, we have consistently shown strong pace in every session and I feel extremely comfortable in the car and within the team. Everything is coming together very well.” Günther also shared his ambitions for the season, saying: “I am determined to have a successful and competitive season. We are currently in a favorable position, along with six other drivers. Although it is still early, we are looking forward to performing well.”
The next race in Misano will mark the Formula E debut on a track specially built for the category, which is well known among Moto GP enthusiasts. Günther believes that the wider nature of the circuit will likely result in a pack-style race, and he sees this as an opportunity to achieve another positive result. He explained: “We have worked hard in recent months to optimize our overall performance, as last year we stood out on faster tracks like Jakarta and permanent circuits. However, our performance in Tokyo, a typical street circuit, was exceptional. So, I am confident that, regardless of the track we compete on, we will approach it with a positive mindset. Misano will present a different challenge compared to Tokyo, but we are optimistic about it. The track looks impressive and, although it requires energy-saving strategies similar to what we witnessed in São Paulo, I believe it will be an exciting and dynamic race. Many unexpected events can happen in this type of race, but I am motivated and carry the momentum from the previous weekend.”
