Sauber is confident that its Formula 1 C44 car showed its potential during the Australian Grand Prix and is now able to compete for points in every race of the 2024 season. Despite not scoring points in the first three races, the Swiss team was encouraged by its performance at the Albert Park Circuit. Sauber’s representative, Alessandro Alunni Bravi, believes that Valtteri Bottas’ progress to Q2 and his competitive pace in the race demonstrate his ability to fight for regular points. Bravi highlighted the importance of accumulating points for the Constructors’ Championship, especially when the top five teams have no opposition. He emphasized that the championship will be highly competitive and the battle will continue until the last race.
Bravi expressed satisfaction with the car’s potential, noting that Bottas was running in the top ten before facing an extended issue during a pit stop in the race in Melbourne. He stated that, despite not yet scoring points, they are confident in their ability to compete for them. The Australian Grand Prix served as confirmation of their potential, and they are looking forward with confidence.
However, Sauber is still facing issues with pit stops that have hindered their performance in the early races of the season. Bravi assured that they are actively working to resolve this issue and believes that once resolved, they will have more opportunities to score points. He emphasized that their car has shown the level of competitiveness needed to fight for points in every race.
A Sauber, operating under the name Stake, introduced a new front wing that contributed to their improved performance in Australia. They plan to bring more updates for the race in Suzuka this weekend. Bravi highlighted the importance of solving the issues with pit stops as soon as possible, as this is currently their priority.
