Nico Hulkenberg has been performing exceptionally well since joining the Haas F1 team. He made his full comeback in 2023 with Haas, a team that has struggled to achieve good results for many years. However, this season has shown some improvement for the team, but the question remains whether it will be enough to convince Hulkenberg to stay for 2025. Some believe it is time for the German driver to explore better opportunities.
During an interview with Sky, Schumacher revealed that the American team owner has different plans. Hulkenberg had previously driven for Aston Martin (formerly known as Racing Points) as a substitute driver between 2020 and 2022 before officially returning to Haas. Although the team has had a better start this year, Schumacher does not believe it is reason enough for Hulkenberg to continue with Haas.
It is widely known that Hulkenberg is dissatisfied with the team’s performance. The interest shown by Audi may serve as motivation for the German driver. Despite Haas’ improvements, there are inherent limitations that may lead Hulkenberg to leave the team at the end of this season.
While Ralf Schumacher urged Hulkenberg to seek opportunities elsewhere, Hulkenberg himself has scored points in two races. He truly believes that Haas is heading in the right direction and making progress. Currently, Haas is in seventh place in the 2024 Constructors’ Championship.
The Haas VF-24 has exceeded expectations this year. The car not only has a strong pace in qualifying, but the team has also managed to improve its overall performance in races. This has given Nico Hulkenberg optimism for the upcoming season.
