In the second free practice at the Circuit of the Americas, Jorge Martin and Maverick Vinales had impressive performances in MotoGP. Martin set a new lap record with an impressive time of 2m01.397s, securing a place in Q2 and becoming the favorite for pole position. Vinales, showing strong form since previous practices, was only 0.076s behind Martin. Marc Marquez, a master of the COTA circuit, placed his Ducati from the Gresini team among the top three. Reigning champion Pecco Bagnaia and rookie Pedro Acosta also secured places in Q2. However, the Japanese teams, Yamaha and Honda, had a disappointing performance, with their riders occupying the last six positions.
