Antonio Felix da Costa, the winner of the Misano E-Prix, expressed that the timing of his victory is fitting considering the speculation surrounding his future with Tag Heuer Porsche in recent weeks. There were rumors suggesting that his place in the race is in jeopardy, with the team testing Nico Müller as a possible partner for Pascal Wehrlein next season. However, da Costa put aside those concerns and emerged victorious from 14th position on the grid in an exciting pack race, becoming the sixth winner in six races in Season 10.
When asked if his victory serves as proof to those who questioned his recent performances that form may be temporary, but class is permanent, da Costa replied: « I will strive to win every race, but this victory happened at the right time. As I mentioned before, we were building momentum for this, maybe not a win, but a podium here and there. In Tokyo, we were fighting for a podium, so I’m not surprised. That has been our goal, and since São Paulo, we have had a positive momentum. But yes, the timing is definitely favorable. »
Furthermore, da Costa addressed the criticism that the highly intense pack-style race may receive from certain sectors. He maintained a philosophical stance, stating: « I believe it’s a matter for the fans. If they like it, then… We, as Formula E, are still learning. I believe tomorrow’s race will be a bit less extreme, and as a championship, we need to reflect on that. If the fans at home and here are excited and having fun, I have no objections. Let’s avoid making any changes. »
