#48: Ally Cadillac, Cadillac DPi, DPi: Mike Rockenfeller
Mike Rockenfeller is scheduled to join Gianmaria Bruni for the upcoming IMSA Long Beach sprint race. This opportunity arose because Neel Jani and Julien Andlauer are busy with the WEC 6 Hours of Imola. Proton Competition manages two sports car programs, one in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and the other in the FIA World Endurance Championship. Unfortunately, both championships have conflicting schedules this weekend, forcing Jani and Andlauer to participate in the WEC 6 Hours of Imola. As a result, there is a seat available alongside Bruni. Rockenfeller previously competed in a JDC Miller MotorSports car in last year’s IMSA season and will now return to the GTP category. This decision was made because the GTD Pro will not be participating in Long Beach, ensuring there are no conflicts with Rockenfeller’s responsibilities as an official Ford driver. Looking forward to joining Bruni in car #5, Rockenfeller expressed his excitement and acknowledged the challenge of performing well in Long Beach. Bruni also commented on the unique nature of the street circuit and the need for preparation due to the shorter race duration. The Long Beach Grand Prix, which is the third round of the 2024 IMSA calendar, will take place on Saturday, April 20. Bruni and Rockenfeller will face tough competition from nine GTP rivals, but will aim to capitalize on the performance of the Porsche 963 while avoiding any potential issues.
