Joey Logano expressed his dissatisfaction with Texas Motor Speedway after a disappointing race last Sunday. The track underwent a new paving in 2016, which has been heavily criticized by drivers due to the lack of grip. Logano, a two-time Cup champion and Team Penske driver, shared his thoughts on the track after the recent Cup event.
During the NASCAR Cup Series race at Texas Motor Speedway, Logano finished 11th. He was very disappointed with his performance and attributed it to the new paving of the track, which made it sticky and negatively impacted his racing abilities.
“I wish there was a way to remove that substance from the track… I don’t know the solution, but I believe it would improve the races,” commented Logano on the residual traction compound that was incorporated into the surface of Texas Motor Speedway.
Logano, driving the Ford Mustang Dark Horse No. 22, is one of the prominent figures criticizing the issues with the new track paving. Although the races in Texas were decent this time, there is still a long way to go to reach the level it had in the 2000s.
The NASCAR Cup Series race in Texas witnessed average races, with drivers from all over the grid complaining about the lack of grip caused by the track surface. Taking this into consideration, Logano shared his thoughts on how races can be improved in Texas.
The driver emphasized that races would see a significant improvement if the track surface was cleaned and restored to its pre-2016 condition. With several top drivers expressing their concerns about the track, NASCAR will certainly need to explore potential solutions, considering the track’s status as one of the most iconic in NASCAR history.
