Kevin Harvick is betting on Ford drivers to perform well at Talladega. The two-time NASCAR Cup champion is seeking redemption in the 2024 season after a disappointing title defense last year. In 2023, he only managed one win and struggled to maintain consistency. This season, he continues to face challenges with bad luck and execution errors.
Harvick’s difficulties are amplified by the poor performance of the entire Ford team this year. The team has yet to secure a win. However, Talladega has historically been a consistent track for both drivers and the manufacturer. Joey Logano, who has not won in 34 races since his victory in Atlanta last year, hopes to break his streak this weekend.
Logano has received an endorsement from a former Cup champion and Fox commentator. The commentator predicts that Logano and his No. 22 Team Penske Racing team will emerge victorious this weekend. He believes Logano will be highly aggressive on Sunday and has gained positive momentum with recent top-ten finishes.
The former RCR driver also has an underdog pick for the race. He expects to see Todd Gilliland as a strong contender for the win. Gilliland has been the top-performing Ford driver on Superspeedways this season, leading most laps at Atlanta and Daytona.
While Gilliland’s win may seem unlikely, a Ford victory at Talladega is a possibility. The Team Penske and RFK Racing cars will be the main competitors and, if they can work together as a team, victory is within reach. Kevin Harvick is particularly eager to see a Ford win at Talladega.
