The ERT announced that Marta Garcia, the current F1 Academy champion, will participate in the upcoming FIA Formula E rookie test in Berlin. Garcia, who currently races for Prema Racing in the Formula Regional European Championship, will join other rookies such as Zane Maloney and Jak Crawford in this second event of the season. The first rookie test took place in Misano during the previous race weekend.
Expressing her excitement, Garcia stated: “I am thrilled to join the ERT Formula E team for the rookie test in Berlin. Formula E represents the future of motorsport, and I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity to experience it first-hand. I have been closely following the championship and I am looking forward to driving the ERT X24 car and contributing to the team’s development. This test is a significant step in my career, and I am determined to make the most of it.”
The ERT Formula E team announced Garcia’s addition as a rookie test driver in a social media post. Alex Hui, ERT’s team principal, expressed his enthusiasm, stating: “We are incredibly excited to welcome Marta García to the ERT Formula E family for the rookie test in Berlin. Marta’s exceptional talent and achievements in the F1 Academy are undeniable. This test provides an excellent platform for her to showcase her skills in the dynamic environment of Formula E. We are confident that Marta will quickly adapt to the unique demands of electric racing and provide valuable insights for the team.”
Garcia’s talent extends beyond the F1 community, as she made history last year by becoming the first champion of the F1 Academy series. She clinched the title in the final round at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas. Currently in her seventh season of single-seater racing, Garcia has previously competed in the W Series and the Spanish Formula 4.
