Ferrari is fighting with McLaren for the position of “best of the rest” behind Red Bull and is determined to introduce developments to its car. So much so that it will be planning a filming day to test them on track.
The Woking team debuted several upgrades at the Miami GP, which paid off – Lando Norris was the winner, leaving Max Verstappen (Red Bull) with no arguments. According to the website PlanetF1.com, this Thursday and Friday Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc will be driving a second version of the SF-24 in Fiorano, under the filming days rules.
The car is expected to have side pods in line with those of Red Bull and other changes. On the other hand, Ferrari assisted the FIA in a test also in Fiorano with wheel spray protectors – which will not count towards the filming days kilometers limit due to the direct involvement of the FIA and the fact that the 2022 car was used.
Leclerc has already admitted that the update Ferrari has in store ‘will be very important’ and decisive for the season, so he is hopeful that it will indeed be a ‘big step forward’. Team principal Frédéric Vasseur is also optimistic, ensuring Ferrari is in the fight for victory at the Emilia Romagna GP.
