Pecco Bagnaia, member of the Ducati 2025 team, took the lead in the free practice session for the MotoGP Dutch TT in Assen, with his teammate Marc Marquez close behind. However, VR46 Ducati team rider Fabio Di Giannantonio temporarily surpassed Bagnaia’s time, only to have his lap invalidated due to a track limits violation, causing him to fall to seventh place. As a result, Bagnaia maintained his position at the top, leading Marquez by a margin of 0.065s. It is worth noting that Bagnaia did not improve his time during the last laps with soft tires, while Marquez achieved his best lap just before taking a detour at the chicane on his final lap.
Surprisingly, the third and fourth positions were taken by Trackhouse Aprilia rider Raul Fernandez and Yamaha rider Fabio Quartararo, who made significant gains in the rankings with their fast laps on soft tires. Maverick Vinales and championship leader Jorge Martin chose to stick with medium tires until the end of the session, finishing in fifth and tenth place, respectively. Martin initially led the session with a fast lap that held the lead for a considerable amount of time. Meanwhile, Vinales’ teammate at Aprilia, Aleix Espargaro, faced mechanical issues at the beginning of the session but managed to secure sixth place in the end.
