During winter testing, Alpine engineers put the stability electronics, air conditioning system, battery, and electric motor to the test, as well as custom winter tires developed by Michelin, which are also being perfected, so that the new 100% electric sports car can offer the emblematic agility of Alpine and the pleasure of driving in all conditions.
The French brand has confirmed that the prototype being used in the tests makes use of the final bodywork, measuring 3.90m in length, 1.82m in width, 1.52m in height and with a wheelbase of 2.53m. The Dieppe factory has also confirmed that inside, the new A290 is equipped with a sport steering wheel covered in Nappa leather and that the 100% electric model is equipped with driving modes, inspired by Formula 1: OV (overtake), RCH (recharge) and Drive.
The A290, which is being tested in winter, is presented for the first time with its original Alpine camouflage, featuring an “Arrow A” logo on the roof and the blue color scheme of Dieppe. It is equipped with the same headlights and fog lights with X-shaped details, as seen in the official teasers, along with a front bumper with vertical air intakes and a partially closed lower intake with a geometric pattern.
