Andretti Racing took a significant step in its efforts to enter the Formula 1 grid by hiring Pat Symonds, former technical director of the sport. Symonds, who has previously worked for top teams like Benetton, Renault, and Williams, will serve as Andretti’s executive engineering consultant. Despite not having official approval from Formula 1, Andretti has been actively pursuing its goal and has even received interest from the sport’s governing body, the FIA. Additionally, Andretti has formed partnerships with General Motors and its Cadillac brand, with plans to use Cadillac power units starting in 2028. However, the team hopes to enter as a customer team in 2026. In addition to these efforts, Andretti has taken its case to the United States Congress, with a bipartisan group of senators now getting involved to raise the issue with relevant authorities such as the Antitrust Division and the Federal Trade Commission.
